Creativity is the act of coming up with new and better products or procedures. In order to complete in the world market, we need:

• processes that other countries will have difficulty duplicating
• products that are better and more efficiently produced
• designs for sustainable growth
• Choose green materials and procedures that also save money and/or time

We as a people and as companies have demonstrated that we have the capacity to succeed.

Creativity is Alive and Well in the U.S.A.

Innovative and useful designs and items are being created by American minds everyday. As evidence, the efforts China makes to steal our production secrets.

Good Competition

Creativity is often increased by "striving together" (competition in its good sense) with those in the local and world-wide markets.

For example, if American auto manufactures were given stricter and shorter time tables to produce fuel efficient and alternate-power vehicles, we could be leading the world today.

The benefits of long-term corporate rewards

An example of corporate decisions based on short-term profit over long-term benefits is the demise of the electric car. The vehicle was widely accepted, clean and required very little maintenance.

Given the great profit center of the replacement parts of internal combustion engines, financially (short term) it made sense to kill the electric car. There is more money to be made from replacement parts than from new car sales.

Perhaps the aftermarket is the reason so much emphases is given to alternate fuels rather than alternate power.

Sometimes CEOs and corporate boards need incentives to look beyond the next financial report. Wouldn't it have been better to face a market readjustment then, rather than frustrating the country with high-fuel prices and a long readjustment we face today?
