Spend Your Tax Rebate and Really Help the Economy
The grassroots website U.S.A. Stimulus is now on-line.
We are encouraging people who will be receiving their tax rebate stimulus checks (beginning in May) to spend that money in their local communities with people who will do the same.
In this way the money does more good for the U.S.A. as opposed to simply running to a big box store and plunking it down on a lot of stuff that just sends the money off shore without doing much else for our economy.
Our idea is that we can keep spending our monthly budgets the same way we normally do, and to make special purchases in our neighborhoods using the tax rebate. That will give them a boost. We are hoping the local merchants will buy into the program, too. Businesses can make an effort to spend the money locally.
We know that some people will have to use their checks to cover their basic monthly expenses and we ask them to feel good about doing so. Even those people may be able to buy some of their food and gasoline closer to home because that will still help.
When Jeff worked for an accounting firm, the first thing the accountants did before talking to a vendor was to see if the vendor was a client, and if not, then check to see if we had a client who offered the same service or product. They understood the value of keeping the money close to home. We are asking you to do the same.
If you like the idea, here is how you can help
- Forward this e-mail on to your friends and ask them to do the same.
- If you use any of the social web sites like Digg, MySpace and so on, please start clicking on the share icons.
- If you like the ideas we express on the site, please join us in the project by spending your own rebate checks in your cities and towns. Ask the people you shop with to do the same.
- Contact your local clubs (like Kiwanis, Rotary), Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations to spread the word.
- When you spend your rebate dollars with local businesses, ask them to spend as much of it as they can locally, also.
- This will multiply the effect of your purchases.
- Place a small triangle above the president’s portrait of the bills you are paying with to remind people to spend locally.
- Ask stores in your neighborhoods to display the circulation poster in their window showing that they understand the importance of dealing locally and will give it their best effort to use the money you give them to continue growing the local economy.
With your help, we believe it is possible to multiply the impact of the tax stimulus rebate by at least three times before the money has to leave the local economy.
As usual, please remove my e-mail address before forwarding this. The amount of spam I receive on this account is horrible. We have contact e-mail links on the web site.
Thanks,
- Jeff & ConiAnn Limpert
